AWAP - Ant Walking Alligator People(collective noun)

The name given to survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings who were horrifically disfigured by the nuclear blasts.
A five-piece band of brothers from East Anglia that spew high-energy tunes, massive riffs, catchy hooks and spit meaningful bile on behalf of the voiceless whilst having a whole lot of fun doing so.

Formed in 2017, AWAP began as a project to give a bunch of like-minded dudes somewhere to squeeze their creative juices. With a political persuasion to the band’s outlook and lyrics, AWAP is a metaphor not just for anti-war sentiment but also muses on the collective experience of all that stand at ‘ground zero’ in relation to social injustice and discrimination.

Punk/Thrash are the genres most often attributed to the band. However, a deeper listen reveals more post-punk and melodic influences ingrained in the fabric of the music.

Three EPs: ‘Bigger Society’ (2021), ‘Mongrels’ (2023) and ‘Clown Carousel’ (2026) are available on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms.

Scott Atkins at Grindstone studio lent his production talents to the drum recording and mastering of the three new tracks: ‘Panikos’, ‘Cargo’ and ‘Clown Carousel’, with our own Aaron Sly taking up engineering, production and mix duties for the remaining elements. ‘Clown Carousel’ continues AWAP’s raw power whilst seeking progression in sound, production and musicianship.

AWAP are known for kinetic and chaotic performances that sit outside the usual super-serious metal/punk fare. They have gigged extensively throughout the country and are remembered by anyone who has seen them.
